Pg Basement is pleased to host the first personal project exhibition of Merve Kasrat called "Out of Order" between 23 September and 30 October 2020.

Kasrat reverses the elements of the human and amphora form, which were previously familiar and encoded in the mind of the audience, with the contemporary interpretation of Menemen's red clay and traditional techniques such as sausage and lathe.

By using deformed objects, hybrid objects and traditional elements together, the artist directs people to review the ways of questioning the familiar.

“This applies to both people and objects. Our beliefs about social groups and different objects around us develop depending on how we observe the outside world. Predictions are the way our brains work. This way of working is also the basis of the actions and experiences we have. This way of working helps us understand the world, but it doesn't always reflect reality.”
